Definition
Surah Yunus is the 10th surah in the Quran's arrangement, opening with the disjointed letters "Alif-Laam-Ra".
Its central theme is to establish the truth of Tawheed, Prophethood, and the Hereafter through rational arguments and the accounts of earlier prophets and their nations, while refuting shirk and comforting the Prophet ﷺ against the disbelievers' rejection.
- Allah created the heavens and the earth in six days and then established Himself on the Throne, regulating every affair of the universe.
- Allah made the sun radiant and the moon a light, appointing stages for it, so mankind may know the reckoning of years.
- Allah controls the alternation of night and day and sends down rain that brings forth vegetation of every kind.

The idols possess not even an atom's weight of power in the heavens or the earth, so they can neither benefit nor harm anyone.
On the Day of Judgment, these false gods will themselves disown their worshippers and deny ever knowing of their worship, showing idol-worship to be baseless.
Definition
On the Day of Judgment, the disbelievers will feel that the pleasurable life of the world was no more than a brief, momentary hour. The Hereafter (Aakhirah) is called everlasting (eternal) — Paradise is the reward of the righteous, and Hell the disgrace of the wrongdoers.
Definition
The disbelievers claimed the Prophet ﷺ had fabricated the Quran himself. In response, they were challenged to produce just one surah like it and to call upon anyone they could besides Allah to help them, if they were truthful — yet they were never able to do so.

Prophet Nuh (AS) was rejected by his people, but the believers were saved in the ark while the deniers were drowned.
Prophet Musa (AS) and Prophet Harun (AS) were sent to Pharaoh with clear signs, contended with his magicians, and were finally delivered when Allah drowned Pharaoh and his army in the sea, preserving Pharaoh's body as a sign for later generations.
The people of Prophet Yunus (AS) believed in time and were spared the punishment decreed for them — teaching that faith must be adopted before witnessing the punishment.
Through these accounts, Allah showed the Prophet ﷺ that rejection by one's own nation is the way of every messenger, and that Allah ultimately grants help and a good end to His messengers and believers while the deniers are destroyed; the Prophet ﷺ was directed to remain patient and continue following what is revealed to him.
